Statement

My paintings explore the emotions that never fail to penetrate the human experience, from self-reflection to interaction. On a movie screen, people may not be touching or even looking at each other, but they are connected through the static on the screen. Any scene in life, no matter how mundane, pulsates with human connection and the awareness of that which surrounds it. With each painting, I try to illuminate aspects of being human that most of us may be unwilling to show strangers, or even show to someone we love.

The information age bombards us with images signifying the idea of a person that may or may not be an honest representation of who that person is. The people we see exist only as we interpret them. With each painting, the situations and emotions expressed are my making, projected through a composition of individual parts that have been hoarded and stored in my mind. Viewers will project a part of themselves on to the work, adding to the layers of distortion and interpretation of what is real and true.
